Daniil Kvyat Spent a Difficult Weekend in NASCAR

Last weekend was a very important weekend for Daniil Kvyat as he puts serious effort into continuing his career in the US NASCAR Touring Car Championship.

Apparently, therefore, he decided on some kind of experiment: on the podium in Charlotte, North Carolina, he performed simultaneously in two races of different NASCAR series – in the Cup Series and Xfinity, which is considered slightly less prestigious.

The races were held on the oval Charlotte Motor Speedway, but on the Roval road track, which is part of this motorsport complex.

In Saturday’s Xfinity series race for the Sam Hunt Racing team, Daniil performed well, showing a 24th result in qualifying and finishing 15th in the race.

This is how the team commented: “This is the day! Daniil Kvyat took 15th place in his debut race with the Roval, although it was his first time using an H-shift gearbox.

He finished 24th in qualifying, got a flat tire during the race, went to the pit stop, was fined for speeding in the pit lane, which put us in a circle behind the leader. But then he got lucky with yellow flags and we were able to get back on the same lap with the leader, and then at one point he was in 12th position and finally finished 15th.

In the list of the team’s best results on road-type circuits, it is on the second line. We are proud of Daniil and the team working with Toyota Supra #26. The hard work has paid off!”

But in the Cup Series race, NASCAR’s top division, where Kvyat started driving Team Hezeberg’s Toyota Camry, he didn’t make it to the finish: from 33rd position he stopped due to engine problems. In any case, Daniel has gained important experience that will serve him in the future.
