A few days after the race, Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi summed up the weekend in Miami…
Laurent Rossi: “The weekend in Miami didn’t disappoint, it’s great to see a new stage with such a vibrant atmosphere on the calendar.
It was just as nice to have a good race in which both our cars finished in the top ten after a bad qualifying. Unfortunately, Esteban didn’t participate and Fernando ran into traffic on a fast lap.
An unfortunate penalty for Fernando after the race for leaving the track and the resulting advantage turned our deserved six points into four. It is difficult to deal with this, because Fernando returned the advantage, but we were unable to provide evidence and clarify the situation before the fine was issued.
If we had had the chance to explain the situation, we are sure Fernando would have kept his ninth place. Next week we go to Spain where we want to have a clean weekend and show the real potential of our car.”
