“Red Bull” was “surprised and disappointed” by the results of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) report, which accused the Formula 1 team of a minor cost limit breach in the 2021 season.
On Monday, the FIA published a study on teams’ compliance with financial regulations. Red Bull surpassed last season’s $145 million mark by less than 5%, according to Sky Sports. The FIA has not yet announced the exact amount or the penalty for the Austrian team. Possible sanctions range from a reprimand to the deduction of points.
We received the results with surprise and disappointment. Our 2021 bid was below the cost limit, so we must carefully review the FIA’s findings as we continue to believe the associated costs did not exceed the permitted cap,” Red Bull said in a statement.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the title in the final race of the season last season. In the Constructors’ Championship, the team finished second, behind only Mercedes, while Aston Martin finished seventh.
