Crew “Red Bull” found guilty of a “minor” cost limit breach during the 2021 Formula 1 season, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has said.
Red Bull surpassed last season’s $145 million mark by less than 5%, according to Sky Sports. The FIA has not yet announced the exact amount or the penalty for the Austrian team. Possible sanctions range from a reprimand to the deduction of points.
“The FIA is currently determining the appropriate course of action to follow in accordance with the financial rules,” the federation said in a statement.
The FIA has also confirmed that Aston Martin made a “procedural” error in its expense report.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the title in the final race of the season last season. In the Constructors’ Championship, the team finished second, behind only Mercedes, while Aston Martin finished seventh.
