After five races of the season, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are just six points apart in the Constructors’ Championship. Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard believes that with such a density of results it is impossible to draw conclusions about whose car is faster.
David Coulthard: “I don’t think there is much difference between the cars of the two leading teams. This is just fantastic, considering that they were designed and built in different countries. I think the tire wear check will be the deciding factor every race weekend.
On the one hand, Sergio Perez is not much inferior to his partner on track, but at the same time he cannot demonstrate the same pace as Max. I think you can talk about the “Max factor”, but you can’t say that Red Bull has the fastest car in the pack.”
Commenting on the race in Miami, Coulthard suggested that Max Verstappen took the win thanks to experience: “After leaving the safety car, Max was under enormous pressure. We saw after the finish that both he and Charles Leclerc were tired and sweaty. It shows that they had to give everything and I like that.
I believe Max drove like a champion. If Max had been younger and less experienced, Charles would probably have caught up with him.”
