Verstappen fastest in last training

Cloudy. Dry. Air +21C, rail +30C

Saturday practice was the first session of the Japanese Grand Prix, on a dry track. With the forecast for qualifying and the race promising dry weather, 60 minutes of free practice was the only chance for the teams to find the optimal setting for the weekend’s main sessions.

Right after practice started, racers rushed to the track and worked with all rubber compounds in short and long runs. Mick Schumacher, who missed the second free practice due to a broken chassis, returned to the wheel.

The training went smoothly. Nicholas Latifi and Daniel Ricciardo went off the track, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz blocked the rubber under braking without affecting the car.

The best time of the Saturday session was shown by Max Verstappen – 1:30.671 seconds.
