This year ends on a contract to host the Monaco Grand Prix. And while negotiations are underway and the contract is likely to be extended, many believe the grand prix organizers need to make changes to keep up with the times.
Christian Horner «It is impossible to imagine Formula 1 without Monaco, it is a crown jewel. But over time, everything should develop. You know how reverent the traditions are at Wimbledon, but now they have a roof in case of rain.
I think they should grow with the sport. I think if the track in Monaco was new, claimed a place on the calendar and they said ‘We will pay the least but it is impossible to overtake’ then the track would never be included on the calendar .
We are ready to put up with these shortcomings of Monaco because of its heritage and history. But I think they should also develop. When you stand still, you roll backwards, and that applies to all aspects of the sport.”
