Sauber Youth Academy driver and Formula 2 winner Theo Purscher takes the wheel of an Alfa Romeo in the opening practice session of the US Grand Prix in Austin.
The young Frenchman will be behind the wheel of Valtteri Bottas’ C42 and the team will live up to the commitment to give the first two practice sessions of the season to young riders. Purscher first tested a Formula 1 car at the Hungaroring in private testing last year, getting behind the wheel of a 2019 Alfa Romeo C38.
Frederic Vasseur, team principal: “This season, as in previous years, Theo has shown excellent results. We have worked closely with him for almost four years, he is a student of our academy and impresses us with his progress – professionally and personally.
We are happy to give him the opportunity to drive for the first time in the first free practice of the official Grand Prix sessions. I’m sure he will impress us again with his performance and help the team gather important data for the US Grand Prix.”
