Fernando Alonso’s contract with Alpine expires at the end of the season and the Spanish driver has already indicated that he is prepared to continue to perform in Formula 1 for a few more years, with a team change not being ruled out.
In turn, Alpine does not want to refuse the services of the Spanish rider. Team leader Otmar Szafnauer said Alpine is ready to offer Fernando a new contract.
“We plan to discuss a new contract with Fernando at the Silverstone round,” Otmar Szafnauer confirmed to AS’s Spanish edition.
Alpine is one of the few teams to immediately put new items on the car, even if they are only finished in one copy. Otmar Safnaeur said engineers are preparing important updates for the next stages: “We are preparing new items for the stages in Spain, Baku and Silverstone – the work on upgrading the car does not stop there.
I hope we have a strong performance in Barcelona. The deal is that if you’re fast in Barcelona, you’re fast on most other circuits.”
