The next Paris Motor Show opens this weekend and one of the stars will undoubtedly be the latest Alpine Alpenglow concept car.
Renault’s sports division seems to hint at interest in a new category that should appear in endurance racing in 2025, particularly at Le Mans – a separate class for cars with electric and hydrogen engines.
The Alpenglow is a futuristic looking sports prototype that gives an idea of how Alpine/Renault designers see the future.
“Alpineglow’s vibrant and modern design gives a glimpse of what the Alpine cars of tomorrow will look like and our vision for the future of motorsport,” said Laurent Rossi, Alpine CEO. “The use of hydrogen technology in the future will not only reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere, but also make the driving process even more pleasant.”
The length of the experimental sports prototype is more than five meters with a width of two meters, and the height of the car is only one meter. The design is widely used in carbon fiber and other composite materials, and the color scheme is dominated by shades of blue – colors traditionally painted in Alpine sports cars since the 1960s.
No technical details of the Alpenglow are given, but experts have been able to see that there are fuel tanks on both sides of the single-seat cockpit, although there is no data yet on what the power and efficiency of the hydrogen plant will be, and what range such a machine could have.
