Saudi Arabia’s debut grand prix took place in 2021 at a temporary circuit in Jeddah, but the podium should move to Qiddiya in 2026 after the construction of a stationary circuit is completed. But now in Saudi Arabia they are thinking of holding two Grand Prix in the country – both in Jeddah and Qiddiya.
“We won’t say no,” Saudi Sports Minister Abdulaziz ibn Turki Al Saud said when asked if the country would host two events per season. – We see the benefits that Formula 1 brings to the Kingdom, so we are investing a lot in this project.
It may seem that we focus on sports, but we also invest a lot in culture and entertainment, exhibitions and many other areas. We could certainly have two races, but first this problem with Formula 1 has to be discussed – let’s see what we agree on. However, we want to perform two phases.
That already happened in Germany, when the races at the Nürburgring and Hockenheim were held in one year. This option is also possible for us.”
