The gap between Alfa Romeo and Aston Martin in the battle for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship has been narrowed to seven points and in the final races, the Silverstone team is quickly overtaking rivals. Aston Martin boss Mike Krak said such results inspire confidence but are no guarantee of success.
“Confidence alone is not enough, you also need a fast car,” said Mike Krak after the race in Japan. – We know the capabilities of our car and we understand that we have made several steps forward this year, but still it is difficult for us to count on sixth place at the finish if the race develops according to the standard scenario.
We have to be realistic, because there are still four stages to go. If we keep earning points, we have a chance to regain the Constructors’ Championship position. However, the situation can change quickly – if one of the opponents earns a lot of points, we will lose our current position.
Four races is a lot, so you have to keep up the pace. On the other hand, we’ve earned points ten times in the last 12 races. I think this result can be considered good progress.”
