McLaren is gearing up for the upcoming US Grand Prix in the hopes that Austin can earn more points than on the previous round to continue the battle against Alpine for 4th place in the team standings.
Lando Norris: “I’m really excited that we’re going back to Austin, it’s a great city, it has great fans, so it’s going to be a great weekend. The track is fun and has some cool features that make it feel like a Suzuka, so I want to get to work and see how the next generation of cars perform there.
I finished in the top 10 in both races I drove there, so I hope we can continue this trend and earn valuable points that are important for the team standings. ”
Daniel Ricardo: “Certainly, the US Grand Prix is one of my favorite races on the calendar. The extra energy it gives me is incalculable, and I love everything about Austin from the crowd to the food to the music. All this is simply not comparable. I can’t wait to hit the track.
I am preparing for the last four races of the season and will do my best to show results that will enable us to continue fighting for 4th place in the Constructors’ Championship.”
Andreas Seidli, Team Principal: “The US Grand Prix is a favorite race for many on our team, so we are all gearing up for next weekend. Austin has great fans who create a special atmosphere there.
The track has its own interesting features, notably elevation changes and wide turns, where you can overtake on different stretches. It is important in this case to find the right balance so that the car handles slower corners well, but has high speed on the straights.
We are also looking forward to practice on Friday as Alex Palou will be driving the MCL36 for the first time. The team will benefit from getting information from him to help set up the car before Daniel gets back behind the wheel for the second practice session.
There are only four races left until the end of the season and we have to work hard to get back to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.”
