The organizers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix are aiming for the stage to have an eternal stay on the Formula 1 calendar.
The contract will now take effect in 2023 and will run for three years, but given that Formula 1 Liberty Media’s owners are among the promoters of the podium, there is no doubt about its prosperous future. For Liberty Media, the Las Vegas Grand Prix will be what the Monaco Grand Prix was for Bernie Eckstone.
Emily Praser, commercial vice president of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, said: “To us it looks like we bought a piece of land with the intention of racing here. And it’s clear that we don’t want to be on the podium for just three years – we want Formula 1 to stay here forever.
We believe the uniqueness of this event will help the development of the sport. By the first Grand Prix there will be permanent infrastructure and we plan to use it all year round.”
