Zhou: We have chances to compete and earn points

Alfa Romeo will bring technical innovations to the US Grand Prix in Austin. The team expects the updates to bring significant points in the battle for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship.

Frederic Vasseur, Team Principal: “Race in Austin, as well as next week in Mexico City, gives the opportunity to speak under the usual circumstances. I won’t deny that we expected more from racing in Asia, especially in Japan where we brought some new products, but the weather didn’t allow us to reach our full potential. On the other hand, our cars are fast on a dry track, which is positive and in line with expectations.

Last week Valtteri and Zhou came to the base, working on the simulator and getting ready for the upcoming races. As usual, our goal is to earn points and strengthen our position in the Constructors’ Championship to finish the season as high as possible. To get a result on Sunday, it is necessary to give all the best on Friday.

I would like to congratulate the organizers of the US Grand Prix on the tenth anniversary of the first race. Over the years we have seen races rich in combat and overtaking, and we will do everything we can to celebrate this date in a bright way.

Valtteri Bottas: “I’ve always loved coming to the US. I’ve spent quite a bit of my free time in the country this year and last Sunday I won a bike race in Kansas, so I’m looking forward to the weekend in good spirits.

In 2019 I won in Austin, from pole. Overall I have good memories of this song, the fans and the atmosphere. This year in Miami we made sure they know how to put on a show in the US!

Our pace in Suzuka was good, so I’m looking forward to getting back on track this week. We are also introducing some new products. If we work well on Friday and Saturday, we can participate in the race and earn important points.”

Guanyu Zhou: “I’m looking forward to going to Austin for a new track for me. Too bad we didn’t earn points in Suzuka, but at least we were close to the middle group and our pace looked promising.

Last week I spent a few days at the base in Hinwil, preparing on the simulator for the upcoming races – I can’t wait to get back in the car. In addition, we will have several new products and we hope that the weather will help to maximize their potential.

As usual, the battle in the middle group will be tight, so the result in qualifying is important. We have every chance to compete in the middle group and earn points.”
