In an interview with the team’s press service, Alpine driver Esteban Ocon spoke about the expectations associated with the US Grand Prix in Austin.
Q: How do you rate the team’s performance in Japan?
Esteban Ocon: The team is satisfied with the number of points achieved. We put in a strong performance on Saturday and Sunday, bringing us well-deserved points and returning to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. The two weeks in Singapore and Japan have been busy for the team, but we will keep pushing and look forward to the US Grand Prix this weekend.
Q: What do you think of the COTA track?
Esteban Ocon: COTA is like a roller coaster ride – it puts the rider and the car to the test. The racing track can be divided into two parts – a high speed section up to Turn 11 and after the straight there is a technical section with slow corners.
In general, the circle is fast and smooth, but there are many bumps on the track, which complicate the task. I love the job and I look forward to returning.
Q: Do you enjoy performing in Austin?
Esteban Ocon: A weekend in Texas is a great experience. Teams and drivers love Austin and we are all excited to be back in the US where interest in F1 has skyrocketed in recent years.
Austin is a vibrant city that has a lot to offer visitors. I know everyone on the team likes to spend time in Texas, but it’s much more important to keep the momentum going in Japan and focus on having four strong races.
