Daniel Ricciardo does not have a contract until 2023, but the Australian driver, who is on the brink of saying goodbye to McLaren, says he is drawing up a plan that will allow him to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car again in the future.
“You’ll see me in the paddock again,” Daniel told reporters in Austin when asked about next season. – It seems that I will be in a slightly different situation, but now I am actively planning for the future
In general, I don’t retire at all and don’t say “bye!” – not at all. I’m just kind of making a plan and trying to come back honestly to fight for high results, win races and do everything I can.
It seems to me that even in Japan I worked quite confidently, although this is not visible in the results (11th result in qualifying and same place in the race). Still, I think there were a lot of good things because that weekend we discovered a lot of things.
I’m looking forward to the last four races and I’m very happy with the American track. Here I always manage to add a few tenths simply because we are in Texas. In general we will see. But I’m in a good mood, motivated and ready to fight.”
After 18 rounds of the season, Ricciardo is twelfth in the drivers’ standings, while McLaren team-mate Lando Norris is seventh with more than three times the points.
