In the second practice session in Austin, the Haas F1 drivers showed excellent results, but were not completely satisfied with the car’s behaviour…
Mick Schumacher (5th) “This weekend we have a special coloring of the cars, it’s always nice to be back on the team’s home track.
The result is not bad, but on Friday everyone works according to different programs – it is not bad that we can repeat it tomorrow. We have a lot of work to do but I hope we qualify in the top ten and have a good race.”
Kevin Magnussen (11th): “In Austin it’s important to handle the wind – the first sector and half of the second it’s tailwind and the rest of the route headwind. The balance of the car changes and on Saturday and Sunday this feeling will only intensify.
Everything has changed in this year’s cars – they are very stiff, you feel numerous irregularities with your whole body and in some places the car even creaks from the load. Driving in Austin has become much more difficult this year.”
Antonio Giovinazzi (20th in the first session): “Unfortunately, due to a gust of wind and lost control of the rear of the car, flew out and got stuck in the gravel. It was my second round in the session, the first with DRS – my apologies to the team. That sometimes happens in racing.”
