AlphaTauri expects to reach the final of the qualification

AlphaTauri prepared for a tough weekend in Austin, but in Friday practice the car’s speed was pleasing to the team. Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda hope to compete for a place in the qualifying final.

Pierre Gasly (9th): “In theory we should have problems on this track, but our form and speed in the first practice was really good. The car drives better than the last two weekends, so we hope to be able to take another step forward on Saturday.

I don’t want to change the settings much because I liked the initial feel of the car. In the third practice there is an opportunity to correct something to squeeze more out of the car. I hope this will enable us to compete for the top ten in qualifying.”

Yuki Tsunoda (12th): “During the first practice we made some changes to the settings to assess the balance, but overall I was comfortable behind the wheel and apparently we are in quite a high position.

The third workout will have to adapt quickly, as the second workout was more of a practice session than a continuation of the first. However, the second free rides still proved useful, as we gathered information about the tires for the future – this should help us move forward.

I think we got the details right in the first practice, and now on Saturday I have to put it all together myself. I hope we can make it to the final of qualifying.”
