Pierre Gasly: “For the third time in a season, like in Japan and Canada, the brakes overheat and lose their effectiveness. This is the second weekend in a row – this is unacceptable. I am incredibly upset. All weekend I had confidence in the car, I had no doubts that we were going to qualify for the final and when it came down to it, the brakes were locked in every corner. I just couldn’t slow down.
I don’t understand why this is happening. This has happened three times with a new set of brakes. But in Canada the track was wet so the load on the brakes is small, in Suzuka it is basically small. We miss the opportunity to get a good result time and time again, when it is best possible.
We do everything we can to squeeze out every hundredth, all our employees on the track, at the grassroots – and I, we all do our best, and when a problem arises where it shouldn’t be, it’s incredibly frustrating.
