It took US Grand Prix stewards several hours to consider two Haas F1 protests over the race’s results. As a result, the protest about Sergio Perez’s car, on which the front wing end plate had been torn off, was rejected and the protest about Fernando Alonso’s car – he drove with a damaged mirror, which came off later, was satisfied by the flight attendant.

The FIA ​​representatives and stewards invited, as experts agreed that Alonso’s right-hand mirror dangling after the accident posed a danger to other entrants – both due to the lack of two mirrors required by the regulations and the potential for injury to another. driver.

As a result, 30 seconds were added to Alonso’s result, which equates to a 10-second Stop & Go penalty on the race distance, but the Spaniard will not be penalized as the team is not responsible for what happened.

In the final protocol, Alonso dropped to 15th place.

The team has been informed of the option to appeal.
