The Circuit of the Americas opened in Austin, Texas in 2012 and has been on the Formula 1 calendar ever since. It is 5.51 km (3.42 miles), has 20 corners and two DRS zones. In addition to F1, NASCAR and MotoGP take place here. The track was built not only for racing, but also for entertainment. There is a concert stage and a professional football field, and soon an amusement park will be built on its territory. In terms of track racing, Lewis Hamilton has topped Austin with five wins in nine Formula 1 races. The pole lap record is held by Valtteri Bottas, who set 1:32.029 in 2019.

Racers love this track because it incorporates some of the best turns from other tracks into its design.
Beginner riders will climb a huge hill that leads to the sharp hairpin of the first turn. Its wide nature contributes to bumpy race starts. The riders then descend the hill towards a sharp right-hander which turns into an S-shaped section of turns 3 to 8. The first part of the site is very reminiscent of Maggots and Becketts of Silverstone. This is followed by a slow turn 9 to the left and over the ridge as the riders fly up to the hairpin at turn 11.

Once here it is very important to get a good exit as it is a long straight mile. The first DRS zone is on this straight, which provides a great overtaking opportunity, as the drivers brake hard into Turn 12. The next three corners are slow and twisty, with Turn 15 very reminiscent of the tricky Turn 10 in Bahrain . The pilots then make a quadruple right turn at the top, inspired by the famous turn of Istanbul Park. Turn 19 is a fast 90 degree turn to the left. Turn 20, recently named “Andretti” in honor of 1978 Formula 1 champion Mario Andretti. This is a sharp left turn back to the main straight, where the second DRS zone is.

Sunday’s race will consist of 56 laps with a total distance of 308.4 km (191.6 miles). Carlos Sainz starts from pole, and with him from the front row – Max Verstappen, who, if he wins, can equal Sebastian Vettel (2013) and Michael Schumacher (2004) in most wins in a season in F1 – 13 .
