Former Russian Formula 1 driver announces retirement from racing

Former Formula 1 driver Sergei Sirotkin announced that he did not plan to continue his sports career as a professional runner.

In May 2022, Sirotkin was appointed to the post of Executive Director of the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF).

Will I go back to racing? The answer is no, I shouldn’t be expected in the race. As much as I love driving, I don’t see any real development opportunities there, even in the medium term. Therefore, I see no reason to spend time and effort on this, which could be much more useful if directed in a different direction, the 27-year-old athlete wrote on the social network.

In Formula 1, Sirotkin spent one season, speaking for the Williams team in 2018. The best result in a driver’s career is a 10th place at the Italian Grand Prix. Moreover, the Russian became a two-time bronze medalist in the GP2 racing series.
