For the second weekend in a row Pirelli will bring the most versatile and well-known line-ups for the teams on the podium – C2, C3 and C4 as Hard, Medium and Soft. Pirelli talked about the difference between the two North American circuits…
Mario Isolasports director: “In Mexico the teams will have to solve very different tasks than in the last two races.
During the season, the tires have to work on completely different tracks and in different conditions. With Suzuka, lateral g-forces were key, in Austin the aerodynamic balance and in Mexico City you have to ensure good grip during acceleration and deceleration.
Traction on the Rodriguez Brothers track has always been lacking in traction, especially as tire loads are low given the low downforce in thin air at high altitudes, especially in slow corners.
This year, the wear is determined by the front tires. Machines of this generation are prone to understeer in slow corners, of which there are plenty in Mexico. Due to the nature of the terrain, the track will be dusty at the start of the weekend and grip will improve quickly. An objective assessment of this factor and optimal tire warming will be the key to success.”
