Nick de Vries will make his full debut season in Formula 1 next year, but the original plan was for the Dutch driver to continue his Formula E electric career with the Maserati MSG team. However, after receiving an offer from AlphaTauri, de Vries took advantage of a contract clause allowing him to end his partnership with the Formula E team.
In Maserati, they started looking for a replacement driver in early September, just in case, when it became known that de Vries would participate in the Italian Grand Prix instead of the ailing Alex Albon. The team is considering several options, including Maximilian Günther, Alex Lynn, Oliver Turvey and even Theo Purscher.
According to The Race, Gunther, who ended his partnership with Nissan in August, is considered the top candidate to replace Nick de Vries. Officially, Maserati does not comment on the search for a candidate to replace de Vries.
