Edoardo Mortara, the winner of yesterday’s qualifying and race in Berlin, seems to have gotten into the habit of taking pole again today for an additional three points.
The Venturi Racing driver was again the fastest on the track, laid out on the territory of the old Templehof airport, but this time Robin Freins was his main rival in the battle for pole position. But the Swiss confidently overtook the Dutch Envision driver and completed a lap with a lead of almost half a second.
Interestingly, Mortara had no such achievements at all until yesterday and only opened the account of victories in qualifying the day before, although he is already playing in Formula E for his fifth year.
So in today’s race Mortara will start from pole, next to him Frijins will start the race from second position, the second row of the field will be occupied by the Mercedes electric cars of Nick de Vries and the Porsche of Andre Lotterer, in the third row of the grid we see the pilot of DS Teecheetah António Felix da Costa and Lucas di Grassi, the pole mate.
Stoffel Vandorn and Jean-Eric Vergne, who took the podium yesterday, will start from the fourth row today. Being the leaders of the series and occupying the first two lines, they have something to lose, so they will definitely try to get ahead, which promises an interesting race.
