Krak: We didn’t walk past, this is the most important

Against the background of discussions going on between Red Bull Racing and the FIA over budget overruns and possible sanctions, people began to forget that there were three violators of the financial regulation.

In addition to the team that won the Constructors’ Championship last weekend, Aston Martin and Williams also appeared in the federation’s brief report on the results of the accounting audit.

In the case of the latter, the situation is quite understandable: she was late in providing annual accounts and in May she paid a fine, which is more than modest by Formula 1 standards – $25,000. The substance of the claims against Aston Martin is unclear, but the violations are also classified as “procedural”, whatever that means.

According to Mike Krak, team leader from Silverstone, this story will come to an end in the near future.

“We are in talks with the FIA and I think we will try to close the matter in the coming days,” Krak said. “Soon there will be a solution, I’m pretty sure. But all this history suggests that we need to do better in the future to avoid similar problems. In the end, what I think is most important is that we didn’t go over budget. And everything else is nothing more than procedural moments.

Apparently Aston Martin is ready to admit these very “procedural violations”, but in the case of Red Bull Racing the problem is more serious as team representatives still insist there was no overrun, and in general it all depends on how costs follow.

Negotiations between Red Bull and the FIA have been interrupted over the sad event – the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, the Austrian company’s founder and owner of the team, but will continue this week.
