Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton co-founded the production film company Dawn Apollo Films with his manager Penny Thaw.
At Dawn Apollo Films, two projects are already in development: a documentary about Lewis’s own career and a Formula 1 feature film starring Brad Pitt for the Apple+ streaming service.
In an interview with the Hollywood edition of Deadline, Lewis commented on a new project for himself: “I’ve always loved movies. I watch a lot and find it a real lifesaver. I have been inspired by many films and have always dreamed of contributing to the cause one day.
People often ask me if I’m going to shoot myself. I was very lucky to be a Formula 1 driver, so I never had time to practice acting, but I always dreamed that one day I would tell stories.
One day, I gathered my team and asked the question, “What do we need to start a manufacturing company?” I had a number of meetings with producers and directors in Los Angeles, one of which was Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The goal is to create impactful stories and ultimately inspire people through films. Much of the new business will be devoted to social impact and community. These topics are very important to me.”
