Last year Mick Schumacher was unable to finish in Mexico City, but now he hopes for a more successful performance…
Q: What do you associate the Rodriguez brothers track with?
Mick Schumacher: I visited Mexico City for the first time in 2019 – during the Race of Champions, where I competed with Sebastian Vettel for the first time. It was a great experience!
Last year I visited Mexico City for the first time in Formula 1 driver status, which is even more memorable. At first I had to get used to the thin air at high altitudes, but after that everything was fine. That weekend left a good impression, I look forward to continuing.
Q: The track is at an altitude of more than two thousand meters above sea level, which can only affect the cars. How hard is it to race in such conditions?
Mick Schumacher: Now it’s hard to say exactly how much aerodynamic efficiency and engine power will change. Last year at this job. We had no problems with reliability, I hope everything will be okay this time too – and we will earn some points.
Q: Can you hear the reaction of the crowd in the stadium from the cockpit as the track is being laid?
Mick Schumacher: We probably won’t hear it, but Sergio Perez – sure. He is incredibly supported there, it’s great that the Mexicans love motorsport so much. I look forward to the chance to return there and hopefully hear the cheers from the fans.
