Valtteri Bottas believes Audi’s chance of success in 2026 will be determined by the effectiveness of its interaction with Sauber over the next few years…
Valtteri Bottas: “Looking at the big picture, I think the Sauber-Audi alliance has great potential. They are very serious and charged to win. I think now any racer, especially me, who already plays for Sauber, would want to be a part of this project.
Much depends on when and to what extent Audi will support this team before it goes factory. Of course nothing will change next year, we are still at Alfa Romeo and we hope that the car will be better than this year. But then, from 2024, their support will decide a lot.
If Audi seriously helps and supports Sauber for a number of years, if their power plant is powerful and reliable by 2026, anything is possible. Now it is impossible to judge what the balance of power will be, but in this case the team will immediately be able to set the most serious goals.
There is still work to be done, that is a fact. But 2026 is not that far away. We have everything we need. Yes, in some technical aspects we are inferior to the championship leaders, but there is time to close this gap. With the support of Audi, anything is possible.”
