FIA: Aston Martin to pay $450,000 fine

We wrote about the sanctions the FIA had imposed on the Red Bull Racing team, and then the federation’s press service published another document, but already on the Aston Martin situation.

In the case of this team, we are not talking about exceeding the budget cap, but only about procedural violations of the financial rules committed in 2021.

Essentially, this federation press release is pretty much the same, but here are the provisions worded differently:

“Aston Martin GP Limited (AMR) was found to have committed procedural violations of financial regulation… However, the Budgetary Control Committee took into account the specific circumstances and invited the team to resolve the issue by agreeing on the recognition of violations. The team accepted this offer.

The Committee on Budgetary Control has found that … there is no basis or evidence that AMR sought or received any benefit as a result of the violation committed.

Thus, the agreement of 25 October 2022, reached between the Committee on Budgetary Control and AMR regarding the violation of Article 6.28 of the Financial Regulation, has come into force.”

Attached to the text of the release is a separate legal document, outlining the essence of the agreements, and most importantly, the breach was the team’s inability to provide accurate and complete financial documentation for the 2021 results. , because it erroneously excluded part of its expenditure items.

Based on this, the team agreed to the following sanctions:

a) AMR must pay a $450,000 fine within 30 days of the agreement date;

b) The team reimburses the costs incurred by the Committee on Budgetary Control in preparing an agreement on violations of the rules.

The decision of the Committee on Budgetary Control is final and not subject to appeal. In the event that the team does not comply with the agreements made on any point, this will be considered an additional procedural violation and the matter will be automatically transferred to the Budget Limit Compliance Commission.
