Baku circuit executive director Arif Rahimov said organizers had changed the pit lane and replaced some curbs before this year’s race, given the low ground clearance of the new generation of Formula 1 cars.
Arif Rahimov: “We have slightly adjusted the arrival in the pitlane. There are no changes on the track itself, but the FIA has asked us to modify the pit lane entrance to make it a bit safer. Let’s see where these changes lead. Racers don’t usually make many mistakes when entering the pit lane.
When we talk about curbs, riders usually say after practice, “In this place you have to remove the steel curb, but in this place you have to add it.” As for the bend before the “old town”, where there is a narrow part of the route, in that place we constantly remove or add a curb. You never know if a solution will work or not until the cars hit the track.”
