Kimi is going to play football at the National Piloti in Monaco

Kimi Raikkonen, who ended his Formula 1 career last year, decided to reunite with his former colleagues, but in a role somewhat unusual for him.

We talked about the traditional football match with the participation of Nazionale Piloti’s team in Monaco next week, and when it became known whose names are on the poster, it turned out that the 2007 world champion was also on the list. Despite the fact that he did not show much interest in football before, unlike, for example, his compatriot Mika Hakkinen or Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, his former Ferrari teammates.

But now Kimi is ready to contribute to the Star Team for Children charity event, scheduled for May 24.

Overall, the composition of the participants is more than representative, suffice it to say that Nationale Piloti’s list of players includes the names of 14 Formula 1 drivers participating in the 2022 championship, including both title contenders, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.

But there are also plenty of stars of recent years: Nico Rosberg, Mika Hakkinen, Felipe Massa, Giancarlo Fisichella, Robert Kubica, Daniil Kvyat and Niko Hulkenberg. There are those who continue their careers in Formula E, for example Stoffel Vandorn, now leading the electric championship, as well as Jerome d’Ambrosio, who once raced in F1 and Formula E and now successfully leads the Venturi Racing team .

Kimi Raikkonen also has something to do after retiring from Formula 1: now he has become head of the Kawasaki factory team, founded on the basis of his Ice One Racing Team. The next leg of the MXGP will be held in Spain on May 29, so the week before Kimi can spend time playing football.

It should be added that Rosberg, Kvyat and d’Ambrosio will play for the Star Team, while Kimi, Vandorn and Fisichella will play for the Formula 1 team.
