Both AlphaTauri riders dropped out in the second part of qualifying, but are hoping to get back into the race…
Yuki Tsunoda (13th): “It’s a bit of a shame that we didn’t make it to the final today. During practice the car showed good speed, I was sure we would break into the top ten.
Unfortunately I found myself in traffic before the last lap of the second session and was unable to warm up the tires, which affected the result. Tomorrow we have to take every opportunity to come back and earn points.”
Pierre Gasly (14th): “On Friday we started the weekend very well, but on Saturday morning the problems started – the car slid around the track in all the corners. Usually before qualifying we manage to find a solution, but this time it didn’t work out.
I was happy with my fast lap, unfortunately the car didn’t have enough speed. Tomorrow there is a chance to recuperate. The track is difficult here, on Friday we showed good pace on a long series of circles – in the race we will definitely have a chance to move forward.
