Valtteri Bottas: Today we expected more

From 6th and 12th place in Alfa Romeo they hoped to earn points with two cars, but only got one – for tenth place from Valtteri Bottas …

Frederic VasseurTeam Principal: “Even one point counts, especially if it allows you to increase your lead over your opponents in the Constructors’ Championship.

Of course, after we showed good pace over the weekend and started from sixth place, we expected more, but the race didn’t go the way we wanted.

In the first lap it looked like we could lead the group of cars behind the top three teams, but we were unable to make the most of the Hard tires after Valtteri’s pit stop and gradually rolled back.

We opted for an alternative strategy for Zhou, but he also struggled in the second part of the race. We will analyze everything to act better next time and finish the season with dignity.”

Valtteri Bottas (10th): “One point in such a race is also a positive result, but today we expected more. Before the pit stop I competed, and after switching to Hard, I couldn’t warm up the tires to the right temperature to get them to work. We were sure they would perform great in the race, but this didn’t happen.

Too bad, because in the first segment I rode at the same pace as my closest rivals. At least I finished in the top ten and earned a point that allowed us to extend the championship lead.”

Zhou Guangyu (13th): “The start of the race turned out to be nice and the long first segment looked good, but after the pit stop I got stuck in traffic. It wasn’t easy to earn back, it was my first time on this track and I want to say it’s one of the hardest. I’m glad Valtteri scored a point for the team, I hope some of my fights helped him with this.

Overall we made steady progress this weekend, now we need to do more in the races to finish this season well. ”
