Red Bull driver Max Verstappen confirmed and explained why he had decided to boycott the Sky Sports interview.
Ahead of race day at the Mexican Grand Prix, it was reported that Verstappen was no longer going to be interviewed by Sky Sports, with his Red Bull team joining him in the role.
It has been noted that the move is associated with one of Sky’s reporters, who repeatedly used the word “robbed” when speaking about the end of Lewis Hamilton’s 2021 title battle with Verstappen.
Verstappen reaffirmed his position, saying the broadcaster had behaved “disrespectfully” throughout the year, with one person in particular apparently referring to a specific reporter. The Dutchman believes this only makes the “toxic” environment on social media worse, according to PlanetF1.
Red Bull noted that the team will resume cooperation with Sky Sports Media from the next round in Brazil.
Verstappen had previously become season champion earlier than expected.
