WEC: Lamborghini hypercar to debut in 2024

Lamborghini has confirmed that its racing division, the Lamborghini Squadra Corse, is developing an LMDh-class car that will make its WEC debut in 2024.

The works team of the Italian manufacturer of prestigious sports cars will compete in two championships simultaneously – in the Hypercar category of the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship and in the GTP class in the American IMSA series.

Lamborghini has been a successful GT racer since 2015 and the drivers have had great success since then, including three wins in the GTD 24 Hours of Daytona marathon. By announcing the decision to create a car that meets the requirements of the LMDh category, the company has taken another step that will allow it to compete for overall victories in races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours. from Sebring. †

The abbreviation LMDh stands for “Le Mans Daytona hybrid”, this category will enter endurance racing in 2023, and cars in this class will be able to compete in both the WEC and the US IMSA Championship.
