Carlos Sainz believes that if he had performed more consistently at the start of the season, Max Verstappen could not have achieved so many wins – and believes in Ferrari’s imminent progress…
Carlos Sainz: “I didn’t expect to lose so much to my partner at the start of the season. You never expect this, especially if you have a good car. If I had been more comfortable at the start of the season it would have been much harder for Max, Charles and I could have resisted more.
Max had a great season and deserved to win. He and Red Bull dominate this year, they have done a great job.
My goal for next year is to start the season at the level I am playing now, which will make life difficult for our opponents.
New year, new car, new bottom configuration rules – this is a new opportunity for us, I believe we will draw conclusions from this season’s results and the team will build a great car. I’m ready to fight and I’m looking forward to Mercedes’ progress, it looks like they will join us in this fight.
