Nico Hulkenberg and Mick Schumacher remain a candidate for a vacancy at Haas for next season. The German veteran himself is cautiously optimistic about his chances of returning to Formula 1 in 2023.
Nico Hulkenberg: “In the end I don’t make the decision, so not everything depends on me. We continue to negotiate. I’m quite optimistic, but you have to be patient and wait a little longer.”
An indirect sign that Nico Hulkenberg and Haas management agreed on everything and shook hands can be seen as yesterday’s announcement of reserve driver Stoffel Vandorn’s contract with Aston Martin. In previous years this position has been held by Hulkenberg and as the team decided to look for a replacement for him, it could indicate that Niko will not be available for Aston Martin next season due to other commitments.
