Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finished fifth and sixth in Mexico City. Ferrari racers said there were no technical problems with the car, and this result was the result of a lack of speed.
Carlos Sainz (5th): “There were no problems with the car. The explanation is simple – this weekend we didn’t have enough speed. We knew before the start of the weekend that we had to make certain compromises with our car and our engine. As a result, we lost more speed than expected – we simply didn’t have the pace.
But there are also positive points. Until today I have not raced for almost a month. [в Японии и США Карлос сходил на первом круге], but now he’s back in rhythm, running the race, controlling the pace and making it to the finish. I consider this a positive outcome of the weekend. Now we have to make sure we get back to the same pace in Brazil.”
Charles Leclerc (6th): “Unfortunately, the race was difficult. Of course I wanted to achieve a higher result. The most frustrating thing is that we did everything we could, but despite all the efforts I lost more than a minute to Max Verstappen at the finish. This is a huge backlog.
We have to analyze everything so that our less good days are not so bad in the future. If we don’t succeed on Sunday, then the day turns out to be really bad.
I think the result in Mexico City is rather an exception, given the track conditions. Hopefully in Brazil we will return to our normal form.”
