Regulations require teams to hold a mandatory summer vacation, when bases are closed for 14 days and workers go on vacation in August. But every year there are more and more races, the number of days off during the season is reduced, and now the teams are discussing the possibility of organizing another break – a winter break, including Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Toto Wolff, Mercedes: “It’s great that this year’s season ends a few weeks earlier than last year. Employees are already at their limit. I think we will agree with the teams in the winter break. Not everyone agrees, but we will do it for our employees.
One or two weeks of winter vacation will benefit everyone. Yes, the work on the base continues over Christmas and New Year, but the racing crew, which moves from place to place all year round, can rest.
Many team leaders like to repeat what we have in the summer – a mandatory two-week break, including Christmas and New Year. The matter is still being discussed, but there are positive signs. In the interest of the well-being of the employees, we agree.”
