Norris: I’m glad we closed the gap with Alpine

Between Alpine and McLaren, the battle for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship continues – two races before the end of the season, the teams are just seven points apart. Lando Norris believes that the determining factor in the outcome of this confrontation will not so much be the speed of the cars as their reliability.

“In Formula 1, everything doesn’t just depend on speed,” Racingnews365 quoted the McLaren driver as saying. “And while we’re a little short of it, we’re doing really well in other areas, like reliability, on which a lot depends.

I’m glad we closed the gap, but the team worked hard for this, so I think we deserve our results. We have to keep doing our best to stay ahead of Alpine in the next two races. We will rest for a few days, but I will spend the whole week on base preparing for the next two races.”

Asked about the chances of beating Alpine in Brazil, Lando said: “To be honest, I don’t know. I can’t say the Brazilian circuit is a balance to our car, but in several previous races we were not fast enough, but strategy and reliability made us perform better. The important thing is to see the checkered flag.”
