Next season, six Formula 1 races will be held in the Americas – in Miami, Montreal, Austin, Las Vegas, Mexico City and Sao Paulo. Races on the American continents are very popular – last weekend 397 thousand people came to the stands of the Grand Prix of Mexico, which was a new record for the circuit.
The promoter of the Mexican stage, Alejandro Soberon, believes that one more race may be held in this region, but provided it is not interspersed with the Mexico City Grand Prix.
“We like competition because it keeps us sharp,” said Alejandro Soberon. – Previously it was impossible to imagine three races in the US, but now it is already a reality. The stage in Miami proved successful, many fans came to Austin – much more than in previous years. The demand for tickets in Las Vegas is already through the roof.
So we already have a race in Canada, three races in the United States, Mexico City and Brazil. The question is, is there room for another stage? I believe so, but it must be a race in a different time zone.
We are not ready to consider the possibility of alternating with another stage as we sell all tickets every year and every year the sales process takes less time. Why would we rotate someone instead of holding a Grand Prix every year? We are bringing a lot of money to Formula 1 – the championship is very successful in the Mexican market, also thanks to the success in the US.
For some countries that do not have sufficient financial capacity, alternating with another internship may be a good option. Better to race a year later than not race at all.”
