Sebastian Vettel will have to spend two more races in Formula 1, after which the four-time world champion will end his career in motorsport. But at the same time, he is not ready to guarantee that he will not return.
Sebastian promised in any case that we will not see him as an expert on any TV channel during the Bahrain Grand Prix, in the first leg of the 2023 World Cup.
“Absolutely, I will not stand in front of the camera as an expert with a microphone in my hand,” Vettel said in an interview with the weekly magazine Spiegel, but at the same time he referred to the example of the once popular German TV presenter Stefan Raab: in 2015, he last appeared in studio cameras, after which he became a successful producer.
“He was an integral part of the German television landscape and then he announced that he had had enough, then everyone calmed down the next day,” Vettel continued. – Whether he’s happy with this or not, you have to ask him. But in my opinion, it’s great when someone decides to get out of the public eye, and everyone understands that this person didn’t have some kind of painful addiction to publicity.
In sports, this danger is particularly high, so I can’t say exactly what desires I will have in a year or two. And yet in two years I wish I could say, “No, thank you, I’m not interested in racing anymore.” Maybe I would like to rule out the return option, but I can’t.”
Norbert Vettel, the German driver’s father, also doubts Sebastian will be able to take a long break from the stress and bustle of the Formula 1 paddock and watch the world of motorsport from the sidelines.
