At the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez are determined to repeat the result of April’s race at Imola, when they gave the team a winning double.
Max Verstappen: “We had a great week in Miami, after which I was able to get away with my family. Now I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel again in Barcelona. I have fond memories of this track – in 2016, at the age of 18, I took my first Formula 1 victory.
The team and I know the Catalunya circuit very well as we have done a lot of testing on it in recent years, so unlike Miami we have a lot of information at our disposal to prepare for the race. I hope we can maintain the momentum that we have gained in the past stages and that we can start the weekend on Friday without any problems.
Sergio Perez: “The team had a crazy week in Miami. And even though Max won, and I earned points, I was still dissatisfied with the results of the race. I’m always aiming for the podium and I know we had the pace to be ahead of Ferrari, so I’m disappointed.
If nothing stands in the way of a stable weekend, I will show the same speed as Max. I will do my best to repeat the result of Imola. After the Miami race my son Emilio was born – it will be great to celebrate his birth with a high result.
We know the circuit in Barcelona very well thanks to the tests and we know what to expect. However, the car being tested on Friday is different in a good way from the car we tested in February. It is interesting to evaluate the progress made during this time.”
