Formula 1 became a mediator in conflict between Red Bull and Sky

In Brazil, the boycott announced by the Red Bull Racing team to Sky TV channels must end – thanks in part to the intervention of the Formula 1 leadership, which has taken on a mediating mission in this conflict.

We told you that on the days of the Mexican weekend, Red Bull’s riders and staff did not communicate with journalists and Sky experts, and this was true not only for representatives of UK’s Sky Sports F1, but also for Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia.

It was in response to the words of reporter Ted Kravitz, said back in Austin, but, as Max Verstappen said at the time, the boycott “has nothing to do with a specific weekend, it’s about the whole year. This digging goes on all the time, constant manifestations of disrespect, especially from a particular person. At some point I decided I’d had enough, I’m not going to take it.

According to RacingNews365, Formula 1 made an effort to defuse the situation and facilitated negotiations between the channel’s management and Red Bull Racing.

Sky Sports F1 director Billy McGinty visited the team’s Milton Keynes base on Monday to hold such talks, but neither side has yet commented on the situation.

However, after the Mexican Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner stressed that the boycott had only been announced for one stage and that interaction between the team and Sky Sports F1 should already be normalized in Brazil. It’s not clear yet if this applies to the channel’s entire crew, which includes more than a dozen full-time presenters, commentators and experts, or there will be some exceptions.

RacingNews365 recalled that this is not the first case: once the Haas F1 team refused to communicate with Sky Deutschland and Ferrari boycotted Sky Italia journalists.
