Mario Isola: There are usually a lot of overtaking in Brazil

At the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, which will be held in the form of a weekend with a qualifying on Friday and a sprint on Saturday, Pirelli will bring the “middle” trio of compositions – C2, C3 and C4. The head of the Italian company’s racing division, Mario Isola, said tire workers are waiting for the next stage.

Mario Isola: “Formula 1 will spend this weekend in Interlagos on the third shortest circuit of the championship after Monaco and Mexico City. We are waiting for a historic circuit that turns counterclockwise, alternating between fast and medium turns, such as the “esques of Senna”. The tires are not loaded too much during acceleration and deceleration, as the track is very slippery and the absence of slow corners makes it easier to control rear tire wear.

Brazil organizes the final sprint of the season. It will be interesting to see how things will develop on the track thanks to the new generation of cars. Strategy must again play a key role. In 2021, the grid on Saturday was evenly split between riders starting on Medium and Soft tyres.

Despite the short lap, there is usually a lot of overtaking in Brazil. Just think of Lewis Hamilton who won after starting from tenth with a two-stop strategy. It looks like with the new cars and tires we will see another exciting race this year.”
