In 2023, the race in Las Vegas will return to the Formula 1 calendar after a forty-one year hiatus. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak estimated the economic impact of the Grand Prix at more than $1 billion.
Steve Sisolak: “My job as governor is to develop the state economically and the Formula 1 race will have a huge economic impact. We expect 170,000 people to come to Las Vegas for the race and book 400,000 overnight stays in hotels – staggering numbers.
The direct economic effect is approaching five hundred million dollars and the indirect effect of the Grand Prix will exceed the billion dollars. We are very proud of these figures. Nowhere do they have such parties as in Las Vegas.
I am grateful to Liberty Media, Greg Maffei and Stefano Domenicali for their collaboration in this area. We have been negotiating for a long time, they flew to us several times from Europe – I am grateful to them for everything. Hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix means a lot to our company and our people. We couldn’t have wished for more.”
