Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali believes the global financial crisis and lack of stability will not affect the championship – just because it is a world championship.
Stefano Domenicali: “Being a World Cup, we have the opportunity to share the risks in the number of countries where we compete. Reduce them and long-term contracts for the Grand Prix. Ticket sales for next season are already going well. And this is a good sign.
In Europe, where I live, there is a clear recession. But I believe that our approach to signing contracts will protect Formula 1 and allow us to move forward with confidence. We are closely monitoring the world situation, but we are still optimistic.
We are pleased with the growth of the audience, first of all with the influx of new, young viewers. We are committed to maximizing and monetizing its growing popularity. It’s no longer just about charging promoters and selling Paddock Club seats, we have other options to capitalize on this growth even more in the years to come.”
