We mentioned that auction house RM Sotheby’s has put up for auction the Ferrari F2003-GA, behind the wheel of which Michael Schumacher won his sixth world title in 2003. According to experts, the cost of the racing car could be 8 million pounds, but in reality the price was even higher.
At an auction in Geneva on Wednesday, an unnamed collector paid Michael Schumacher’s 2003 Ferrari F-GA 13 million Swiss francs ($13.2 million), a record price for a new Formula 1 car. The previous record was held by another Schumacher Ferrari, the F2001, which sold at auction in New York in 2017 for $7.5 million.
Michael Schumacher drove nine Grands Prix in a sold Ferrari F2003-GA in 2003, including the season finale in Japan, and won five in Spain, Austria, Canada, Italy and the United States. In 2022, the car underwent an overhaul at the team’s base in Maranello and received almost completely new major components, including a gearbox, clutch, hydraulics and a three-litre V10 engine.
